Greek airline SKY express has inaugurated its first direct flight between Athens and Yerevan, strengthening the connection between Greece and Armenia.
The maiden flight landed at Zvartnots International Airport, where it was warmly received by airport officials and Greece’s Ambassador to Armenia, Christos Sofianopoulos.
The new route will operate three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays—using state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft. The addition of this route responds to growing demand for flights to Yerevan and aims to foster closer cultural and economic ties between the two nations.
Sergey Avetisyan, General Manager of Armenia International Airports CJSC, congratulated SKY express on the launch and expressed optimism about a long-term partnership, including the possibility of expanding to more destinations in the future.
Gerasimos Skaltsas, Chief Commercial Officer of SKY express, highlighted the significance of the new route, describing it as a step toward meeting passenger demand while enhancing connections between Greece and Armenia.
Greek Ambassador Christos Sofianopoulos hailed the new aviation link as an opportunity for more Greeks to explore Armenia’s natural beauty and growing tourism industry.
The Athens-Yerevan route marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two countries, promoting both travel and economic exchange.
