Four people, including two paramedics, were injured on Thursday when an elevator at Athens' Red Cross Hospital fell after a cable snapped. All are in stable condition as authorities investigate the incident, raising concerns about hospital safety standards.
The injured include two paramedics from a private ambulance service, a patient being transported on a gurney, and the patient's escort. Hospital sources have confirmed that all four are in stable condition and under medical supervision.
The Hellenic Fire Brigade reported that it initially received an emergency call to rescue a person trapped in the hospital's elevator. However, upon arrival, the brigade was informed that the individual had already been freed, and no further intervention was required. A fire service vehicle was dispatched to the scene as part of standard protocol.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident, raising concerns about the maintenance and safety standards of hospital infrastructure.
