A 47-year-old foreign national was apprehended at Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos Airport for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Greece.
The arrest was carried out by the Narcotics Sub-Directorate of the Organized Crime Countermeasures Directorate as part of their ongoing efforts to prevent drug trafficking via air routes. The suspect, identified through targeted profiling and data analysis, was intercepted upon arrival from a foreign country.
Authorities discovered 940 grams of cocaine concealed in 77 improvised packages, which the suspect had internally smuggled and expelled naturally. Along with the drugs, a mobile phone and 100 euros were also confiscated.
The suspect has since been handed over to the prosecuting authorities for further legal action.
