Private Investigator Revives 15-Year-Old Cold Case, Bringing New Hope for Justice

A private investigator has breathed new life into a 15-year-old cold case in Greece, providing renewed hope for the family of a murdered mother. Earlier this year, Jean Hanlon’s family enlisted the help of Athens-based investigator Haris Fluskounis to re-examine the evidence surrounding her mysterious death.

Haris meticulously revisited the details of the case, culminating in a 29-page dossier handed over to Greek prosecutors in June. The investigation led to the identification of a man suspected of being responsible for Jean's murder. Legal regulations prevent the disclosure of the suspect's identity, but it is understood that he allegedly stalked Jean after she rejected his advances.

In an interview with the Sunday Mail, Haris revealed that Jean's personal diary was instrumental in the breakthrough. "For the first time in 15 years, Jean Hanlon’s case has reached a turning point," he stated. "The diary was crucial to the investigation, offering a timeline of her interactions with the suspect."

Jean's diary detailed her attempts to distance herself from the man after a fleeting relationship. The suspect’s relentless pursuit reportedly heightened in the days leading up to her untimely death.

Having moved to the village of Kato Gouves four years prior to her passing, Jean was seeking a fresh start after a divorce. Despite the years that have passed, Jean's family remains steadfast in their quest for justice.

Michael Hanlon, Jean’s relative, expressed deep gratitude for Haris's efforts, "Haris posed the essential questions and found the answers. We are and will always be grateful to him."
