Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Fragogiannis has resigned for personal reasons, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressing gratitude for his service. New Democracy MP Tassos Hatzivasiliou will take over as Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, with the swearing-in ceremony set for January 20. Fragogiannis will remain an unpaid adviser on international outreach.
The announcement was made on Friday, with the Prime Minister’s office confirming that Mitsotakis had accepted the resignation and expressed gratitude for Fragogiannis’ contributions during his tenure.
Fragogiannis, who played a key role in promoting Greece’s economic diplomacy and fostering international business relations, will continue to serve as an unpaid adviser to the prime minister on matters of extroversion.
In his place, New Democracy MP for Serres Tassos Hatzivasiliou has been appointed as the new Deputy Foreign Minister responsible for economic diplomacy and openness. Hatzivasiliou, a seasoned politician with expertise in foreign affairs, is expected to carry forward the government’s agenda in strengthening Greece's global economic partnerships.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed minister is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 20.
Fragogiannis’ resignation marks a significant change in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Greece continues its efforts to expand its international economic footprint.
