Greece Delivers Humanitarian Aid to Gaza – See Photos

On January 17th, Greece successfully transported 6 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Amman, Jordan. With the assistance of Jordanian authorities, it will be forwarded to Gaza.

The aid includes medical supplies, clothing, and essential items such as cleaning and personal hygiene products. In close collaboration with the relevant state bodies, the Greek Armed Forces coordinated the collection and transportation of the aid, with the Air Force providing logistical support.

The supplies were handed over to the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) in Amman, which will ensure they reach the people in Gaza efficiently. Greece's Ambassador to Jordan, Irene Riga, and the Defense Attaché were present at the handover, underscoring the diplomatic and military collaboration between Greece and Jordan in this humanitarian mission.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

This action by Greece coincides with recent developments in the region, including a tentative ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which is set to take effect on Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated that the ceasefire if the agreement is passed on Sunday, could be accompanied by the release of the first hostages.

Despite these developments, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical, with continued high demand for food, medical care, and basic hygiene items.

Reports indicate that the Israeli offensive has claimed the lives of over 46,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children. It is not clear how many of the deceased were fighters. Israel claims to have killed more than 17,000 fighters, though this has not been independently verified.
