In an emotional revelation, Klavdia (Klavdia Papadopoulou) shared the message behind her song “Asteromata,” which she will perform at the national final for Eurovision 2025. Speaking on the ERT program “Proian Se Idon” on January 16, Klavdia explained that her song is deeply personal, addressing themes of displacement and refugees.

The 23-year-old artist, who hails from a family of Pontian Greek descent, expressed how the song resonates with her own heritage. “Our country has experienced these emotions, and my family has lived through them,” she said. “I am connected to the song because my family are refugees, and my grandmother has shared stories from the past that have influenced me.”

Klavdia’s entry “Asteromata” for the Eurovision 2025 national final tells the powerful story of displacement, a theme that deeply connects her with the song’s lyrics. “We wanted to create a song that I could relate to personally and that would also reflect something meaningful to me,” she explained.

The singer also recalled the moment she learned that her song had made it to the top 12 finalists for the national competition. “I was with my parents when the announcement was made. When I heard my song being called out as 11th, I felt a strong sense of confidence that we’d make it to the final. When they said my name, I jumped up in excitement and started celebrating. My parents were so happy and wished me the best of luck.”

Looking ahead to her performance at the national final on January 30, Klavdia expressed her excitement and anticipation: “I’m thrilled and can’t wait. I’m enjoying the process, even though there’s a bit of creative anxiety. I’ve been looking forward to this moment for such a long time.”

Klavdia also mentioned that she and her team have been working closely with renowned director Fokas Evagelinos to develop an engaging and memorable performance for the final. “We’ve had some great discussions about how to present the song, and we all seem to agree on a concept that we’ll fully support,” she said.

The artist’s journey to represent Greece at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest is not just about the music—it’s a deeply personal experience for Klavdia, who is eager to share her story with a global audience.
