Konstantina Karampatsoli, a prominent Greek politician and Member of Parliament, attended the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., on January 20th.
She was the only Greek politician present at the historic event, highlighting her significant connection to both the Greek and American political landscapes.
Ms. Karampatsoli, who represents the New Democracy (ND) party, was invited by Republican Congressman Gus Bilirakis of Florida’s 12th District. The invitation was extended to her due to her influential role in Greek politics and her strong ties with the Greek-American community.
The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, informed the party's Parliamentary Group and the Assembly’s presidency last week about Ms. Karampatsoli’s upcoming trip to Washington for the inauguration. The event marked a milestone for the Greek MP, who joined other prominent Greek-American figures with close ties to Donald Trump at the Capitol.
During her visit, Ms. Karampatsoli met with the new U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, at a reception hosted by the Greek-American community in Washington. The event was also attended by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. Guilfoyle is expected to assume her duties as U.S. Ambassador to Greece by April 2025.
