Rockslides Trigger Road Closure on Argenos-Vafios Route in Northern Lesvos After 5.1 Magnitude Earthquake

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday evening at 10:38 caused rock landslides along the Argenos-Vafios road in northern Lesvos.

Themis Kammenos, president of the Lepetymnos Community, confirmed that the road has been closed due to the rockfall.

The mayor of West Lesvos, Taxiarchis Verros, posted on social media: "The Argenos-Vafios road is closed at the 'Ag. Anargyroi's location is due to rockfall. We urge everyone to exercise extreme caution when moving in the area."
