Athens Drug Ring Dismantled

Greek authorities have broken up a drug distribution ring in Athens that allegedly exploited migrants’ healthcare IDs to illegally obtain and distribute psychiatric medications and other prescription drugs.

Six people, including two pharmacists, a doctor, an accountant, and two associates, were arrested. Authorities are also seeking ten more suspects, including doctors and pharmacists, for questioning.

The criminal network is accused of using the social security numbers of unsuspecting foreign nationals to fraudulently obtain over a thousand prescriptions. These prescriptions were then used to supply drugs, including psychiatric medications, to drug users through a network of eight Athens pharmacies allegedly linked to the operation.
