Three Greek Australians have been recognized in the 2025 Australia Day Honours List, marking the 50th anniversary of the awards. Kleoniki Matziaris-Garay received an OAM for her extensive volunteer work with several Victorian Greek community organizations, including PRONIA, AHEPA, and ESTIA.
Dr. James Markos received an AM for his significant contributions to medical education and research, specializing in respiratory and sleep disorders, in Tasmania.
Panagiotis (Peter) Tsokas received a PSM for his outstanding public service in local government, specifically his work in strategic and environmental planning and reform for the City of Unley in South Australia.
All three recipients expressed gratitude and pride in their awards and highlighted the importance of community service. Tsokas specifically mentioned the strong Greek community presence in Unley and the city's efforts to support its Greek residents.
