This day is observed as both International and National Holocaust Remembrance Day.
“Six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis across Europe, including 67,151 Greeks. We honor the memory of the victims of this horrific atrocity,” the Ministry’s statement read.
The statement underscored the ongoing responsibility to remember and preserve the history of the Holocaust: “With only a few survivors still with us, the weight of this responsibility continues to grow. It is our duty to pass on the knowledge, respect, and remembrance of the Holocaust to future generations to ensure that such a heinous crime is never repeated.”
The Ministry also emphasized the importance of combating hatred and fostering tolerance. “We must redouble our efforts in the collective fight against antisemitism, racism, intolerance, and discrimination, and work towards a world of peaceful coexistence for all,” the statement concluded.
