Following the massive success of Oppenheimer, which grossed nearly $1 billion and won Best Picture, Christopher Nolan is set to embark on a new cinematic journey with his adaptation of the ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey.
This film, inspired by Homer’s legendary poem about Odysseus’ voyage back to Ithaca after the Trojan War, boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.
As shooting is set to commence in two months, Variety has unveiled the filming locations for this highly anticipated project. True to the spirit of the epic, Nolan will film parts of The Odyssey in Sicily, particularly on the island of Favignana, dubbed “goat island.” Scholars believe this location to be a significant setting in Homer’s tale. Additional scenes will be filmed in Sicily’s Aeolian Islands, with a significant portion of the Sicilian scenes shot in Favignana. Other filming locations include the U.K. and Morocco.
