An Indian man recently married his Greek girlfriend at the Maha Kumbh Mela, a significant religious event, and shared their special experience with the media.

On January 26, 2025, Siddharth married Penelope at the auspicious Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The couple spoke about their decision to marry at the religious festival and expressed their gratitude for being together.

The couple tied the knot in a traditional Vedic ceremony, with Swami Yatindranand Giri, the Mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara, performing the kanyadan, accompanied by Penelope’s family. Shortly after the ceremony, Siddharth shared their thoughts with ANI, saying, “We are very grateful just to get married to each other. She is really special…” He also mentioned that he had given Penelope the option to marry in Greece or India, and she chose India.

Siddharth explained that Prayagraj felt like the perfect place for their wedding, given the spiritual atmosphere and many devotees present. “You meet such great souls. We meet Maharaj ji (Swami Yatindranand Giri) and get his blessings, and this is such a pleasure for the heart and the soul,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of tradition, calling marriage a “holy institution” that unites a man and a woman.

Penelope, who had never attended an Indian wedding, described the ceremony as “magical beyond words.” She added, “It is only when I see some of the pictures that I realize we were experiencing divine energy.” Having converted from Buddhism to Hinduism, Penelope also shared her excitement about dipping in the holy water on January 29.

This wedding marks a beautiful union of cultures, spirituality, and love at one of India’s most revered religious gatherings.
