Get ready for an underwater adventure! Chania, Greece, is set to unveil one of Europe’s most exciting new attractions in 2025 – a diving park in Ombros-Gialos.

Imagine exploring a magical underwater world teeming with life. The park boasts over 60,000 square meters of artificial reefs, including 37 specially designed structures and two sunken warships! Whether you’re a seasoned diver or just starting, routes are designed for all skill levels, with depths ranging from 8.5 to 25 meters.

Construction began in October 2024 and is expected to be completed by summer 2025. This project is a collaborative effort between the Greek ministries of National Defense, Environment and Energy, Culture, Rural Development and Food, Shipping and Island Policy, and Tourism.

The park aims to be a haven for marine life and divers alike. The artificial reefs will be strategically placed to promote the growth of underwater flora, creating a thriving ecosystem. Additionally, an underwater monitoring system will be installed to ensure divers’ safety and the park’s sustainability.

This groundbreaking project marks the creation of the first diving park in Greece. The Municipality of Apokoronas is excited about the park’s potential to boost alternative tourism in the region, with a particular focus on attracting scuba diving enthusiasts.
