Hellenic Prometheas Society and HAWC Present Author Yvette Manessis Corporon in DC Area

International Bestselling Author to Discuss New Book ‘Daughter of Ruins’

PRESS RELEASE—WASHINGTON, DC—January 28, 2025 — The Hellenic Society Prometheas and Hellenic American Women’s Council-Capitol Region (HAWC) will present International Bestselling Author Yvette Manessis Corporon for a book talk and signing at The Hellenic Center in Bethesda, Maryland on Friday, February 28.

Manessis Corporon returns to the DC area to discuss her latest historical novel, Daughter of Ruins (Harper Muse, October 2024). Her other books include Where the Wandering Ends (Harper Muse, 2022), Something Beautiful Happened (Howard, 2017), and When the Cypress Whispers (Harper, 2014). To date, her books have been translated into 16 languages. The daughter of Greek immigrants, she is a native New Yorker. She studied Journalism and Classical Civilizations at NYU and loves combining both her passions and crafting stories from little known moments in history and mythology.

The author is also a three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist who has traveled the world covering the biggest stories in news and entertainment. She is currently a Senior Supervising Producer with EXTRA. She is also a recipient of the Silurian Award for Excellence in Journalism and the New York City Comptroller and City Council’s Award for Greek Heritage and Culture.

Set in Corfu and Kefalonia, Greece and partially in America, Daughter of Ruins is a powerful tale of three determined and strong women in 20^th century Greece. Whether you are a fan of historical fiction, mythology, or simply enjoy a compelling story of female empowerment, the book which was a recent Oprah Daily pick, is a must-read.

Hellenic Society Prometheas is the oldest and most active cultural organization in the Washington D.C. area.
