Hobart’s beloved Estia Festival will take center stage this weekend, celebrating the rich traditions of Tasmania’s vibrant Greek community.
The festival, which will take place on February 1 and 2, 2025, promises a spectacular showcase of Greek culture. It will feature music, dance, art, lectures, and, of course, a mouth-watering array of traditional Greek cuisine.
Thanks to the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, the Estia Festival has been secured until 2027, ensuring that this much-loved event remains a fixture on the state’s cultural calendar for years.
Liberal Member for Clark, Simon Behrakis, who shares Greek heritage, emphasized the event’s significance and the government’s continued support for multicultural celebrations in Tasmania.
“The Estia Festival is a fantastic opportunity for Tasmanians to immerse themselves in Greek culture, from its vibrant music and dance to its rich artistic traditions and delicious food,” Mr. Behrakis said. “This festival is about bringing people together and celebrating the diversity that makes our state such a wonderful place to live.”
Mr. Behrakis also acknowledged the dedicated volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make the festival successful.
“I can’t wait to check out the festivities over the weekend and experience the incredible community spirit that defines Estia. I want to sincerely thank the many volunteers who have contributed their time and effort over the years to ensure that this event continues to thrive.”
The Tasmanian Government remains committed to supporting cultural festivals like Estia, which foster inclusivity and provide opportunities for people of all backgrounds to connect and celebrate diversity.

The 2025 Estia Greek Festival is a celebration of culture, community, and connection. Over two days, it will bring Greece’s traditions to Hobart. Featuring authentic Greek food, live music, traditional Greek dancing, and family-friendly activities, this festival has been a cultural staple for Hobart since 1993.

The Street Festival offers various kinds of food and beverages with very limited options for vegans and vegetarians.
Traditional Greek Dancing
Performed by our own Hellenic Dancers. All age groups perform from as young as 4 years old. Estia is a pinnacle event in our calendar for the dancers to perform and celebrate culture. Later in February 2025, the Hellenic Dancers will perform at Antipodes Festival (one of the largest festivals in the Greek diaspora).
