The ceremony will take place on Friday, February 7, at 18:00 at the Church of St. Nicholas Ragava in the presence of close family and friends.
The announcement surprises many, as Nikolaos and Chrysi’s relationship has been public for just seven months. Though an open secret in Athens’ social circles, their romance was confirmed when Chrysi attended the memorial service for the late King Constantine on January 16, marking their first public appearance together.
Rumors of a romance between Nikolaos and Chrysi began circulating in June 2024, but the couple initially kept their relationship low-key. They avoided public outings, preferring private gatherings with friends. By mid-summer, Chrysi introduced Nikolaos to her father, businessman George Vardinoyannis, during a yacht trip to the Greek islands.
Their first major public appearance was at the Acropolis Museum in September, followed by Nikolaos’ sister Theodora’s wedding later that month. At the time, speculation grew about an engagement, though the couple made no official statement.
Chrysi Vardinoyannis, previously married to singer Nino, has two children and is known for her independent spirit and strong personality. She later had a five-year relationship with actor Konstantinos Markoulakis before her romance with Nikolaos began.
Nikolaos, the second son of former King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie, gained a reputation as a “cool royal.” He lived a bachelor lifestyle before his 2010 wedding to Tatiana Blatnik. Their 14-year marriage ended in divorce, with reports of marital strain surfacing as early as 2018.
Now, Nikolaos and Chrysi are preparing to begin a new chapter together. While their whirlwind romance took many by surprise, those close to them say it was a natural evolution of a long-standing friendship. Their upcoming wedding will be an intimate affair, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exciting future for the couple.
