The Digital Governance Ministry, in collaboration with the National Observatory of Athens, has launched mysafetyplan.gov.gr, a new online platform designed to provide real-time guidance and safety information during natural disasters such as earthquakes.

The platform, accessible directly without requiring an app download, features a “digital map of safe spaces” that informs users about nearby temporary shelters established by civil protection authorities, municipalities, and regional governments. Additional safety instructions and resources for various types of natural disasters will be integrated into the platform in the near future.

To ensure reliable communication in disaster-stricken areas, the ministry is working with major telecom providers Cosmote, Vodafone, and Nova to deploy mobile units and generators in regions affected by power outages. Meanwhile, HellasSat has prepared a satellite communication unit, which will be stationed at the Hellenic Air Force base on Santorini (Thera), providing critical backup connectivity.

This initiative underscores Greece’s ongoing commitment to enhancing emergency response and ensuring public safety amid increasing environmental risks.
