A team of volunteer Samaritan Rescuers from the Hellenic Red Cross (HRC), along with Social Workers and Psychologists, is being dispatched to Amorgos to assist the island’s residents following recent seismic activity.
The team will arrive in the early hours of Tuesday, equipped with rescue vehicles and operational tools like cutting equipment and ropes. They will collaborate with local authorities to provide necessary services and aid in the aftermath of the earthquakes.

Additionally, the HRC’s Social Workers and Psychologists, alongside volunteers from the Social Welfare Unit, will offer psychological and emotional support to the residents, especially those most affected by the repeated tremors. Their primary focus will be on elderly individuals living alone, people with chronic illnesses, children, and young people struggling to cope with the stress.
The Hellenic Red Cross teams have already been active on Santorini since Friday. HRC social workers and psychologists have been stationed at the Municipality of Thira’s Community Center in Mesaria, offering support from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM daily. In the afternoons, they visit homes throughout the island to provide further assistance to those in need.
