Greek secondary school teachers are staging a three-hour work stoppage today, Monday, February 17, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, in protest against the planned establishment of Onassis schools.
The Federation of Secondary Education Officers (OLME) has also called for a demonstration at 1:00 PM in Syntagma Square.
Meetings with Political Leaders
Since January 28, 2025, OLME representatives have been meeting with political party leaders to discuss their concerns. They have so far held talks with SYRIZA-PS leader Socrates Famellos, Communist Party (KKE) General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas, New Left President Alexis Haritsis, and Niki President Dimitris Natsios.
According to OLME, political parties have expressed clear support for the teachers’ demands and their fight for pedagogical freedom and democracy in education. They have also agreed to work closely with OLME to highlight these issues in Parliament, aiming to strengthen public education and its educators.
