Postecoglou Dismisses Relegation Talk as Spurs Find Form with Third Consecutive Win

Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has voiced his frustration over discussions about the club’s potential relegation earlier in the season, labeling such talk as “ridiculous” given their recent upturn in form.

After a challenging period of injuries and losses, Spurs have bounced back with a third consecutive Premier League victory, defeating Ipswich Town 4-1.

Brennan Johnson, returning from a calf injury, scored twice, while Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski also contributed goals. This win elevated Tottenham to 12th in the standings, marking a significant improvement as they currently have the fourth-best goal difference in the league.

Despite being 16 points clear of relegation and 11 points off the top four, Postecoglou was critical of previous relegation fears, emphasizing the importance of patience and focus during difficult times. He highlighted the necessity for continued strong performances to climb the table and praised his team’s resilience and depth, especially in defense despite missing key players.

Upcoming fixtures present a challenging path, with a match against Manchester City and a Europa League tie against AZ Alkmaar on the horizon. Postecoglou is optimistic about the team’s prospects, stressing the importance of the next few weeks in shaping their season’s outcome. He is keen to capitalize on the team’s current momentum to improve their league standing and pursue European success.
