Eleven farm workers from the Philippines and Nepal were illegally detained and exploited by two Pakistanis, aged 36 and 37, in the Elous Community of the Municipality of Evrotas in Laconia.

The two Pakistanis were arrested on February 18 by police officers of the Sparta Crime Investigation Department, and charges of human trafficking and violation of the law on foreigners were filed against them, Eleftheria Online reported.

As emerged from the preliminary investigation, the arrested, taking advantage of the vulnerable position of the 11 foreigners and using physical and psychological violence, illegally detained them and forced them to do agricultural work.

Two mobile phones were found and confiscated in the possession of the two Pakistanis as a means of facilitating criminal acts.

Those arrested will be brought to justice while the police investigation and pre-trial work continue by the Sparta Crime Prosecution and Investigation Department.
