A tragic incident unfolded in Paiania on Wednesday, as an elderly man was found dead during a firefighting operation at a residential property.
According to the Fire Brigade, the fire broke out at approximately 16:43 and quickly spread through the house. During efforts to contain the blaze, firefighters discovered the body of a man, believed to be between 85 and 90 years old, outside the residence.
A total of 36 firefighters and 12 fire engines were deployed to the scene, with additional support provided by local government water trucks. Authorities have since brought the fire under control, while an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
