Safety Guidelines for Earthquakes
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection urges citizens to follow safety guidelines during and after an earthquake. Key recommendations include:
- Indoors: Take cover under a sturdy table or desk, protect your head and neck, and stay away from windows and heavy objects. Avoid balconies and do not rush outside.
- Tall buildings: Move away from windows and exterior walls.
- Public spaces: Remain calm and avoid panic-driven crowds heading toward exits.
- Outdoors: Stay away from buildings, power lines, and any structures that could collapse.
- In a vehicle: Stop in an open area, ensuring the car does not block traffic. Avoid tunnels, bridges, or overpasses.
