Tulsi Gabbard’s Senate warning about a terrorist takeover in Syria is proving eerily accurate.
The Director of National Intelligence cautioned against Al-Qaeda’s rise, and now U.S. media reports confirm that forces tied to the terror group, backing Syria’s interim president—a former Al-Qaeda member—are massacring Alawite and Christian minorities.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told Reuters that over 340 civilians, mostly Alawites, were killed by Syrian security forces and allied gunmen in the last two days. During her confirmation hearing, Gabbard declared, “I have no love for Assad or any dictator—I just hate Al-Qaeda and how our leaders embrace Islamist extremists, labeling them ‘rebels,’ as Jake Sullivan advised Hillary Clinton.”
In the Al-Ghab plain, an Alawite-majority area, a woman told Fox News Digital that militias vowed, “Alawites are pigs; we’ll execute them all—kids first.” Speaking anonymously, fearing retaliation, she said gunmen raided her home Thursday, held a gun to her head, and stole everything. Similar looting and killings were reported in Alawite towns like Nahr al-Bared and Deir Shamil, where masked Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) fighters—identified by their Syrian Arab accents—terrorize residents.
High-profile deaths include 86-year-old Alawite cleric Shaaban Mansour and his son Hussein, killed Friday in Shahlamb village, with locals blaming Damascus-aligned fighters, per Reuters. Christians are also under siege: Greco-Levantines Worldwide reported a young family, including an infant, and father-son duo Tony and Fadi Petrus executed by Islamists Friday.
“There’s no safety, no homeland, nowhere to run,” the Alawite witness lamented. “Only fear remains.”
