The Greek Foreign Ministry has voiced deep concern over reports of violent clashes in Syria that have resulted in numerous civilian casualties.

In a statement posted on X on Saturday night, Greece called for restraint and a renewed commitment to peaceful solutions.

“We are deeply alarmed by reports of violent clashes with numerous civilian casualties in Syria. We call on all sides to show responsibility and seek peaceful solutions, refraining from actions that would further inflame tensions,” the ministry stated.

Greece emphasised the urgency of an inclusive political transition to ensure stability and protect all ethnic and religious communities. “These developments increase the urgency for an inclusive political transition process and securing the protection of all ethnic and religious communities, in the spirit of national unity,” the statement added.

The Greek government has consistently supported diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts in the region, advocating for dialogue and humanitarian aid to affected populations. This latest call for restraint comes amid ongoing instability in Syria, where clashes between various factions continue to pose a significant humanitarian crisis.

Greece’s appeal aligns with broader international concerns about the situation in Syria, as global leaders urge de-escalation to prevent further loss of life and displacement.
