Wildfire Erupts on Evia Island

A wildfire ignited on Thursday night in the Karystos region of Evia Island, triggering an urgent response from emergency services.

Reports indicate that the blaze is spreading through a forested area with challenging, rugged terrain, complicating efforts to reach it. Fortunately, residential zones remain out of harm’s way for now.

To combat the fire, 42 firefighters and nine fire trucks have been mobilized. Support from volunteers and municipal water tankers is also bolstering the ongoing firefighting operations.
