The Australian Embassy in Athens will host a commemorative service on Friday, 25 April, to mark ANZAC Day, a solemn occasion that honours the sacrifices of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women in times of war.
The ceremony will begin at 10:00 am at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s Phaleron War Cemetery in Alimos, located at the intersection of Ethnarchou Makariou Street and Poseidonos Avenue. Attendees are kindly requested to arrive by 09:40 am.
The event is open to the public, and Australians, New Zealanders, and friends of both nations residing in or visiting Greece are warmly invited to take part in this significant day of remembrance.
ANZAC Day, observed annually on April 25, commemorates the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) at Gallipoli during World War I, and has since come to represent a broader tribute to all those who served and died in military operations.
