Compiled using data from the Weather and Climate platform and presented by travel booking service Omio, the list highlights Europe’s brightest urban destinations, ideal for travelers seeking a fusion of radiant weather, rich culture, and unforgettable experiences.

Athens claimed the fourth position, drawing nearly eight million visitors in 2024 and having an average of 2,773 hours of sunshine annually. The city also boasts upscale accommodations, such as the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel, offering stunning views, wellness retreats, and seaside escapes.

Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, topped the ranking as Europe’s sunniest city, basking in 3,388 hours of sunshine each year. The city’s unique blend of Greek and Turkish cultural heritage makes it a captivating destination where visitors can explore historic sites, vibrant markets, and a divided yet dynamic urban landscape. Nicosia’s year-round sunshine and cultural richness position it as a must-visit for travelers seeking history and warmth.

Other top-five cities include Valletta, Malta (2nd, 3,030 hours); Lisbon, Portugal (3rd, 2,828 hours); and Madrid, Spain (5th, 2,712 hours). In contrast, London, with only 1,675 hours of sunshine, did not make the top 20.
