With days away from the commencement of the Tokyo Olympics, Greek City Times thought it appropriate to put things into perspective and remind readers how such a small country like Greece with limited resources manages to punch above its weight in nearly every field of human endeavour.
Greece is only one of four countries in the world to have competed at every Summer Olympic Games winning a total 120 medals in 16 different sports, out of which were 33 gold medals, 45 silver and 42 bronze.
Sports categories where Greece scored the highest are track and field, followed by weightlifting and gymnastics.
Water polo is the only team sport in which Greece has won a medal.
