David Crouch, the father of murdered Caroline, made bombshell revelations about Babis Anagnostopoulos. The father of the deceased young mother said in an interview, on the ANT1 show, that her husband was "involved in a drug gang," a fact that Caroline knew and the reason for her murder.
In this interview, Caroline's father claimed that Babis Anagnostopoulos has admitted the truth to him in a letter he sent him, which - as he said - his mother can also confirm.
In the interview he said that there was a restaurant that Babis and Caroline frequented. The owner of the restaurant was involved in drugs and told Babis that he and the gang needed a helicopter pilot to bring and transport drugs.
According to Caroline's father, this was a job he would be paid a lot of money. In his view, even if he became involved in something so illegal, he should not have told Caroline as she was an extremely honest person and wanted nothing to do with it.
David Crouch also revealed that she threatened to leave for the Philippines, with their young daughter, if he became involved in drugs, stressing once again how stupid Babis is as he told the gang the true reason he would not get involved in the drug operation.
In the letter Babis sent, he claimed that the gang wanted her dead because even if he divorced Caroline, she would still have knowledge of their illegal activities.
Babis Anagnostopoulos is a 33-year-old helicopter pilot from Greece. His family made international headlines after his 20-year-old wife Caroline Crouch was murdered in their Athens home on May 11, 2021.
He initially claimed they were victims of a gang burglary, but has since confessed to her murder.
Caroline and Anagnostopoulos began dating while she was a teenager.
The pair are believed to have married in Portugal in 2019.
On May 11, 2021, Caroline was allegedly tortured and strangled in front of her 11-month-old daughter at her house in an upmarket Athens suburb.
Police found Caroline's lifeless body next to her crying daughter later that morning.
Lydia, the couple's daughter, was not harmed.
A police spokesman said he found Anagnostopoulos handcuffed to the floor near Caroline with duct tape over his eyes and mouth.
The family's pet husky was also strangled with its own lead and left on a fence.
On June 17, 2021, Anagnostopoulos confessed to murdering his wife after she vowed to leave him.
Anagnostopoulos admitted to smothering her after more than eight hours of interrogation in the homicide department of Athens' police headquarters.
The authorities said in a statement: "The culprit is her 33-year-old husband who has confessed to the act."
Police have described him as a "top class actor" after staging the elaborate crime scene and keeping up with the sick charade as the grieving widower for over a month.
The disgraced helicopter pilot even drowned the family dog and hung it up to blame it on the burglars and strengthen his story, investigators said.
According to reports, Anagnostopoulos eventually broke down saying: "That night we had been arguing from early on.
"At some point she threw the child in her cot and she told me to get up and leave the house.
"She pushed me and punched me.
"My judgement became blurred, I strangled her and then I staged the robbery."
In a text message found on Caroline's phone, it had become apparent that the student had threatened to leave the man she had first met as a teenager just hours before her own murder.
In May 2022, Anagnostopoulos was convicted of premeditated murder by three full-time judges and four jurors at the Athens Mixed Jury Court.
He was also found guilty of animal abuse and two counts of perverting the course of justice after his elaborate lies were unmasked.
Anagnostopoulos received a life sentence for the premeditated murder of Caroline and is now in prison.
He was also given 11 years and six months for brutally killing their dog and a fine of €21,000.
His lawyer said the verdict was "expected" and now the 34-year old is expected to live decades behind bars.
He is currently being held in Korydallos Prison, which is known as the toughest jail in Greece, and is said to be unpopular among other inmates.
