Karalis: Panhellenic pole vault record

An Amazing performance and pan-Hellenic record for Emmanuel Karalis, at the 37th Pan-Hellenic Indoor Athletics Championship, at SEF.

Emmanuel Karalis scored an excellent performance on the first day of the Panhellenic Indoor Championships .

The Greek pole vault champion surpassed 5.86m. and broke the Panhellenic record held by Kostas Filippidis with 5.85 m, while he is also the third best jumper for this year in Europe.

The Olympiakos champion excited the spectators who were at SEF with an impressive competitive performance and showed that he is ready for the big date of the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul.

The 24-year-old champion started the competition with successful jumps of 5.30m, 5.40m, 5.50m. passed 5.65m. with the second, 5.72m. with the third and 5.86m. with the second attempt.

Then the athlete of Haris Karalis tried to break the record again by setting the bar at 5.92 m , a jump that showed that he is not far even though today he failed to pass twice.

Emmanuel Karalis will have his last test before the Europeans in Istanbul at the meeting in Zagreb next Tuesday.

The silver medal in the pole vault was taken by Yannis Rizos (AS Aris) with a jump of 5.40 m and in third place was Petros Hatziou (OSFP) with 5.30 m.

Son of a Greek father and Ugandan mother, Karalis has consistently ranked highly in youth competitions across Europe.
