A jewellery store in Kapandriti, a suburb in Athens, became the scene of a bizarre burglary attempt early this morning.
According to police reports, unknown individuals targeted the store around 4:00 am. In an unconventional approach, the suspects used a bulldozer to smash through the storefront window.
Despite the dramatic entry, the would-be thieves were thwarted by the store’s security system. They reportedly fled empty-handed, leaving behind a trail of destruction. The bulldozer caused extensive damage to the store and merchandise.
Police have abandoned the bulldozer at the scene and are searching for a getaway vehicle used by the fleeing suspects. An investigation is underway to apprehend those responsible.
