Last year, for the first time, Robb Report embarked on a global search to identify the 50 top luxury hotels. The resulting list became the definitive guide for discerning travelers seeking unparalleled experiences.
In 2024, we have undertaken this endeavor once more, yielding remarkable findings.
The properties featured on this year’s list are a diverse array: some date back centuries, while others have just opened their doors in the past year. They encompass urban retreats and sprawling country estates, showcasing cutting-edge modern design alongside classic aesthetics. What unites them is their unwavering dedication to exceptional luxury hospitality.
Our approach this year remained consistent: we consulted with the travel industry’s elite—a group of 22 Travel Masters who specialize in serving ultra-high-net-worth clientele. We invited them to recommend up to 10 properties they frequently endorse to clients, and requested detailed explanations of what sets these hotels, resorts, or ranches apart. This guarantees that every location on our list has been rigorously vetted and repeatedly celebrated by the world’s most discerning travelers.
As anticipated, there were numerous overlaps, with several properties receiving recommendations from multiple experts—those that made it into our top 10. The remaining properties have been categorized geographically for your convenience.
You may notice some familiar favorites in this year’s top 10, alongside a few exciting additions. Notably, the prestigious No. 1 spot has once again been occupied by London’s iconic Claridge’s. Congratulations to them!
The only Greek hotel to make the list is the newly opened One&Only Aesthesis in Athens.
After years of transformation, Athens is thriving once more. Once a hotspot for iconic figures like Brigitte Bardot and Richard Nixon, the city’s famed Riviera is glittering again—and perhaps more glamorous than ever. Last year, One&Only Aesthesis debuted on a stunning 21-hectare beach and forest reserve, just 30 minutes from Athens’ renowned ancient sites. The resort offers 95 bungalows and 18 residences, each featuring terraces, private pools, and outdoor showers. Additionally, it includes two expansive multi-bedroom villas known as Villa One and Villa Nostos. According to Travel Master Metcalfe, “This new opening is a jewel in Athens’s crown,” praising the resort’s chic 70s-inspired design and its exceptional balance of family and couple-friendly amenities, including an upcoming adults-only beach and an outstanding kids’ club. The resort also boasts Greece’s first Guerlain Spa, and its Mediterranean restaurant, Ora, is helmed by Michelin-starred chef Ettore Botrini. All these features combine to make Athens a worthy contender against the vibrant Greek islands.
Rates start at approximately $770 from November to January, with high summer pricing around $2,000.
