Zanet Nahmia, the last Holocaust survivor from the Greek city of Ioannina, has passed away at the age of 99.
Nahmia, born in 1925, was one of the thousands of Jews deported from Ioannina to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1944. Tragically, most of her family perished in the Holocaust. She, along with her older brother, was one of the few survivors.

After the war, Nahmia returned to Ioannina and rebuilt her life. She remained deeply committed to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and sharing her experiences with future generations.
The Jewish Museum of Greece paid tribute to Nahmia, acknowledging her significant contribution to their work. Her personal testimony and family photographs have been invaluable in documenting the history of the Jewish community in Ioannina.
