Gale-force winds sweeping across the Ionian and Aegean Seas have led to widespread sailing bans, causing disruptions in ferry services.
The Hellenic Meteorological Service reports wind speeds reaching 8 to 9 Beaufort in some areas, with a gradual weakening expected by the afternoon.
Routes Affected
The following ferry lines are currently impacted:
- Arkitsa-Edipsos and Kavala-Prinou Thasos routes are closed.
- On the Keramoti-Limenas Thasos line, only the ship Anax is operating.
- The Alexandroupoli-Samothrace and Rio-Antirrio routes are suspended.
- On the Kyllini-Kefalonia line, sailings are operating under the captain’s discretion.
Ferry services from Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio ports are running as scheduled.
Passenger Advisory
Travellers planning to sail on Tuesday are urged to check with local port authorities or tourist agencies for updates on potential changes or cancellations to ferry routes.
