Greece Marks 110th Anniversary of Armenian Genocide with Commemorative Events

A series of commemorative events will take place in Greece this week to mark the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, honouring the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who perished under the Ottoman Empire.

Organised by the Armenian National Committee of Greece in collaboration with the Region of Attica, the four-day observances will begin on Thursday in the southern Athens suburb of Nea Smyrni. A memorial prayer will be held at the Monument for the Armenian Genocide, followed by speeches and the laying of wreaths by officials including state representatives, the Governor of Attica, the Armenian Ambassador to Greece, and members of the Armenian community.

As part of the awareness campaign, an information kiosk has been set up at Syntagma Square by the Armenian Youth of Greece. Wreaths will also be laid at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier.

These events reflect the strong ties between Greece and Armenia, as well as the enduring commitment to historical memory and justice.
