Hooded Men Savagely Attacks Teen on Athens Train Over Greek Flag Bag

Trains Nea Ionia

On the night of May 3, 2025, a shocking act of violence unfolded at the train station in Nea Ionia, Attica, when a group of hooded men brutally assaulted a 17-year-old for carrying a bag with the Greek flag.

The assailants, dressed in black with surgical masks, knuckle dusters, and reinforced knuckle gloves, entered the train carriage and approached the teen after spotting his bag with a Greek flag on it.

One attacker challenged him, saying, “What are you, a Golden Dawn member? Shout f* Golden Dawn.” The teen replied, “F* Golden Dawn. I have no connection to Golden Dawn.” When asked why he had the Greek flag, he retorted, “Do I owe you an explanation?”

The group then attacked, with the victim recounting to ALPHA: “One of them holds my hands. The other one starts punching me. There must have been 3-4 people hitting me anyway. The other one started with the reinforced knuckle gloves. I was covered in blood; my nose was cut open.

The marks I have on my face are not from a hand. They must have been hitting me for 20-30 seconds. The train was full of people, and no one did anything.” The 17-year-old, accompanied by his father, filed a complaint at the Nea Ionia Police Department. The Hellenic Police are investigating and reviewing security footage to identify the perpetrators.
