The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong rebuke to the European Parliament’s decision to uphold its block on resuming EU accession negotiations with Turkey.
The ministry criticised the 2023-2024 Türkiye Report, adopted on May 7, 2025, during the European Parliament’s Plenary Session, as being filled with “biased, unfounded, and prejudiced claims” against Turkey.
In its statement, the ministry further charged the European Parliament with acting as a “platform for terrorist propaganda” and supporting groups driven by anti-Turkey agendas. It dismissed the Parliament’s evaluations of Turkey’s domestic politics, foreign policy, and the President’s visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as baseless.
Turkey called on the European Parliament to revise its position and back the continuation of Turkey’s EU accession process.
