Brawl at Karaiskakis as Panathinakos fan wears jersey at Olympiacos home ground

Police have arrested a man and identified a second one suspected to be involved in the brutal beating of a soccer fan during the World Cup qualifying match between Greece and Gibraltar in Athens on Tuesday.

Video footage from Georgios Karaiskakis stadium, which is the home ground for Greek team Olympiakos, shows a group of fans beating and kicking a man wearing a Panathinaikos jersey in Gate 8 of the Olympiacos stadium before he escapes by jumping out of the stands.

According to Greek media, the  20-year-old man arrested has been involved in soccer fan brawls in the past. Greece’s Deputy Minister for Sports has called on the prosecutor to launch an investigation into the attack to find the other men who were also involved.
