Defense Minister Nikos Dendias emphasised that these reforms reflect a balanced approach, integrating conservative values with progressive reforms to strengthen Greece’s national security and support its military personnel.

Defence Minister Nikos Dendias announced plans to close 137 military camps by 2025, introduce drone capabilities across the Army, and invest billions in upgrading warships, submarines, and missile systems.
The Greek frigate “PSARA” successfully defended a merchant vessel from a drone attack in the Gulf of Aden early Sunday morning, July 7, 2024. Military sources confirmed the frigate, operating as part of EUNAVFOR’s Operation IRINI, utilized both its anti-drone systems and onboard weaponry to neutralize the threat. Two of the four attacking UAVs were shot down, while the remaining two were driven off. The PSARA sustained no damage and continues its mission in the region.
