The European Commission has approved €150 million in funding to support a carbon storage facility in Prinos, Greece, marking a significant step toward Greece's climate goals and the EU’s Green Deal objectives. Led by EnEarth Ltd., the project will capture and store up to 1 million tonnes of CO₂ annually in its first phase, with plans to expand to 2.5 million tonnes. The facility, partially funded through the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, is set to begin operations in 2027.
