Record 100,000 Kilograms of Plastic Removed from Great Pacific Garbage Patch

Over 100,000 kilograms of plastic has been removed from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) in a record haul orchestrated by non-profit ‘The Ocean Cleanup’: “If we repeat this 100,000 kilogram haul 1,000 times – the Great Pacific Garbage Patch will be gone.”

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addresses the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, opening by saying that he believes that “in spite of the pain and the disruption brought about by this horrible disease, there are real reasons to be optimistic.” In his speech Mitsotakis also conveys messages about what he refers to as “acute climate crisis” as well as Greece’s relations with Turkey.
