July 2024 was the hottest July since 2010 in northern and western Greece and the Ionian Sea, with temperatures up to 3.4°C above average. In Gavalou, Etoloakarnania, temperatures exceeded 40°C for 14 straight days. Athens and Thessaloniki also experienced significant heat, with most days being warmer than usual.
