Early Wednesday, the Coast Guard rescued 52 migrants in the sea region of Kali Limenes, Crete. The migrants, from Sudan and Egypt, had called for help from a dinghy using emergency number 112. A Coast Guard vessel quickly responded, bringing them to Kali Limenes before transferring them to Heraklio for further assistance.

On Wednesday, the southern coast of Crete was hit by a series of light earthquakes, including a magnitude 4.5 tremor. The quakes, occurring in quick succession with magnitudes of 4.1 and 4.8, were centered in the sea south of Kali Limenes. The Athens National Observatory reported that the tremors, which had shallow depths, were widely felt along the southern coast but caused no reported damage.
