Bipartisan Support for the Annual Martin Children’s Walk

Two bronze statues honouring Sir James Martin, philhellene and one of the founding fathers of the modern Australian state of New South Wales, are set to become the starting and finishing lines for an annual walk of school students from Parramatta to Sydney.

Brooke Robinson Announced as Lysicrates Prize Event Winner 2020

Brooke Robinson has been announced as the winning playwright at this year’s Lysicrates Prize Event for her play DeOxyRibo-Whatever Acid. As winner she is the proud recipient of a full commission to finish her work. The Sixth Lysicrates Prize Event was held on Friday 31st January 2020. The Lysicrates Prize is a competition that showcases some of Australia’s most exciting playwriting talent.

In 2015, John and Patricia Azarias established the Lysicrates Foundation to raise funds towards the restoration of the Lysicrates monument and to honour it by holding an annual Lysicrates Play Competition nearby.

The Lysicates Foundation aims to take the ancient Athenian mould to give a platform to world-class theatrical talent, making the Lysicrates Prize the People’s Choice and an iconic event in Sydney’s cultural calendar.
