A top foreign and security policy advisor to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mesut Hakkı Caşın, went on another tirade on national television that was once again full of threats of war and historical inaccuracies regarding Greece and Turkey. "Turkey is fully prepared, waiting in the trenches. We are patient, but we do not sleep," he said on CNN Türk. "Just as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was patient, and at the end he gave the order to fire on Greeks on August 26, 1922. Allah Allah, the Greeks suddenly found themselves to have been pushed all the back to Smyrna," he said, recalling the Greco-Turkish War (1919-22). "They were all drowned in the sea," he said deceivingly and in reference to the Great Fire of Smyrna where Turkish forces killed over 100,000 civilians in the city after Greek forces withdrew. "They must never forget this. The Greeks call this as the disaster of the century. You can't beat me again," Caşın said in a crazed frenzy on television. "Why are you coming at me with American incitement. If you haven't learned from history, we'll teach you again," he continued. "What does Kyriakos Mitsotakis say? I call him Mitso-knucklehead. Dude, remember Turks saved your father," he concluded. https://twitter.com/abdbozkurt/status/1404002627717844997 It is recalled that Caşın has threatened American soldiers in December 2020. “Our two batallions would invade there and teach all the Americans how to swim in Aegean waters,” Caşın said on live television. During the Great Fire of Smyrna towards the end of the Greco-Turkish War, forces of genocide perpetrator Mustafa Kemal Ataturk set fire to the great city, resulting in many Greek civilians desperately trying to swim to ships in the harbour and drowning. 100,000 civilians, mostly Greek, died from fire, drowning or directly by Turkish forces. A common insult by Turkey and proud of the fact that they continued their long tradition of killing civilians, is that they “threw the Greeks into the sea” or “taught Greeks how to swim.” Caşın, member of the Presidential Board for Security and Foreign Policy, stated how US military bases in Turkey could be shut down. “We can also close our bases . Let the US take its radar away. The radar does not work for us anyway,” said the advisor. “İncirlik as well. İncirlik is not as important as in the Cold War, but I will say this,” he said. “Why should we protect the Americans in İncirlik after the US already took the Patriot away,” he questioned.
