Just over a year ago, Christina Flampouri became the first Greek woman to reach the top of the ‘7 summits’. Against low temperatures and strong winds, she completed one of her biggest goals on January 6, 2020, and climbed Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica (4,892 metres), with the Greek flag. On the occasion of International Women's Day, she posted a message for her followers: "Be proud of the strong woman you are today, you have gone through so much to get here…" https://www.instagram.com/p/CMINRllgo46/ "International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people," she continued. Flampouri is one of the 70 women in the world to have conquered the ‘7 summits’, and the first of Greek background. “Seven Summits was much more than a mountaineering project for me, it was a dream come true and this confirms my belief that nothing is impossible. Five years ago I was scared to step on the edge of a slope and today I have managed to reach the highest peaks in the 7 continents,” she stated after conquering the peak. https://www.instagram.com/p/CL7Mgi4Agcu/ Christina Flampouri ‘s story inspires us daily to chase our own peaks, no matter how big or small.
