Chaos erupted in the skies as at least 20 planes were forced to make emergency landings at Istanbul Airport on October 1st. This wave of diversions came after Iran launched airstrikes against Israel, triggering immediate airspace closures by Israel, Iraq, and Jordan. With numerous aircraft running critically low on fuel while circling over the volatile region, Turkish authorities scrambled to provide safe haven, diverting flights to Istanbul as well as airports in Antalya and Ankara.
